For Tvlse (in a manner of Pauline)

For Tvlse (in the manner of Pauline) is a graphic sound composition by Curatorial Advisor Kalyn Fay Barnoski, performed by local and regional community members. Grounded in Indigenous sound methodologies and Pauline Oliveros’ frameworks for “deep listening,” the composition centers the stories and perspectives of the Tribal Nations whose territories meet within Tulsa - the Osage, Cherokee, and Muscogee Nations - while exploring intersections and legacies of diaspora, dispersion, and community. Implementing Osage, Cherokee, and Muscogee language, alongside instrumentation and vocal chorus, the graphic composition and performance seeks to develop new locations of importance through sound and community convening.
